Happy Independence Day 2021: why is Independence Day celebrated on August 15, know the reason

15 August is celebrated as Independence Day in India. The rule of the British Empire came to an end on this day from India which had been under British occupation for a long time and India became an independent nation. Lord Mountbatten was instructed by the British Parliament after World War II to transfer power to the Indians by June 30, 1948. Many Indian freedom fighters and politicians believed that it was not possible to wait till June 1948. Chakravarti Rajagopalachari, who played a key role in the Indian freedom struggle, had said that if he waited till June 1948, the transfer would be difficult. Therefore, Lord Mountbatten changed the date of change of power to August, 1947.
