The Primetime Emmy Awards 2021, the 73rd edition of the Premiere Television Awards, was held today. The Emmys have the best television medium has to offer. They serve a similar function to the Academy Awards for films, and like the Oscars, they are the most prestigious award for the field.

Emmy Awards 2021 The Crown sweeps the show

Going into the ceremony, Ted Lasso was the biggest contender with the most nominations: 13. However, The Crown won the event by winning seven major awards. Jason Sudeikis won for his performance in Ted Lasso, while the show won the Outstanding Comedy Series award.

Unlike most of last year's virtual ceremony necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year saw a full-person ceremony on the event deck at LA Live in Los Angeles. Actor and comedian Cedric Antonio Kyles, better known by his stage name Cedric the Entertainer, hosted the live ceremony.
