Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer.

Most students have already returned to school so this is the first holiday for the school year.

Labor Day holiday is celebrated on the first Monday of September every year.

"Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.

Here is a part of what we were able to decide on Monday, September 6th for what is closed for Labor Day.

Banks: Closed

Kate: No service

County Government: Adams, Cumberland, Dolphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, York and Perry, closed

Federal Offices and Courts: Closed

Grocery stores: Costco, closed; Sharp shopkeeper, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Aldi and Sam Club closes at 6 p.m. BJ has wholesale clubs (optical entry hours may vary), Giant (pharmacies closed at 2pm), Kerns, Walmart, Wegmans and Weiss, among many other open regular hours.

Libraries: Dolphin County Library System, closed; Cumberland County Library System, closed; Middletown Public Library, closed; And Hershey Public Library, closed.

Liquor stores: which normally open on Mondays will open at their usual time and close at 5 p.m.

Municipal Government Offices: Closed

PA Media Group: Off

Parking in Harrisburg: Free

Pendot Driver License and Photo License Centers: Closed

Post Office: Closed but Priority Mail Express will be delivered and Self Service Kiosk is available at Harrisburg Head Office, 1425 Crooked Hill Road, Susquehanna Tweep .; Lower Paxton Twip., 5901 Jonestown Road; And 702 AD in Mechanicsburg. Simpson St.

Public schools: closed

Rabbittransit: Only Gettysburg will operate the fixed route

Retail stores: Most open

State Offices: Closed
